Item Description

A.S.Roma match worn shirt by Francesco Totti during the Serie A game between Roma and Fiorentina which took place in Roma, “Stadio Olimpico”, on September 20th 2009. This is a one-of-a-kind Francesco Totti’s shirt because the story behind it is simply crazy, since it is probably the only shirt of the player that was ever refused by his fans. These are the facts: three days before the game against Fiorentina, A.S.Roma played and lost an Europa League’s game in Basel. After the game the players didn’t go to greet the fans on stands getting them pissed. After the game against Fiorentina, A.S.Roma players went to greet their fans and most of the players threw their shirts to them, including Francesco Totti. The fans, that were still pissed for the team bad results and for the issue in Basel, threw back the shirts to the player. Totti didn’t realize what was going on and he went back to the changing room. The shirt stayed laid down on the ground for few seconds until one of the team’s photographer picked it up for himself. This was a big issue in Roma, because Totti publicly said “A friend told me and I was hurt, wounded.” Supporters later said that the gesture was in protest at the side’s average start to Serie A. This shirt comes directly from the photographer who took it from the floor. The shirt is very recognizable from game’s footages as visible from the pictures attached. The position of the “Lega Calcio” badge is also very recognizable because it is in a pretty unusual place upper than usual. The shirt comes with the photographer signed COA. The shirt is listed for the second time due a non paying bidder.
